Greetings!
This blog is intended to be my voice. I am generally a very open and blunt person by nature, but I have been hesitant to speak to my friends and family about what has really been going on with my disease(s). What it's really like, how I really feel, how much it really sucks sometimes, and how humiliating it can be to have those you love and respect know such intimate things about you. Because really, do I ask you how you go to the bathroom? How many times? What it was like? If it hurt? If "we" should be worried? But, I understand the compulsion to ask the questions, and know that I would be doing the same thing if it were happening to someone that I love...
It has taken me three very long years to come to the conclusion that these are things that have happened to me and things that I cannot control. What I can control, however, is how I let them affect, change and shape me. So, this is my "fuck you!" to Colitis and Cholangitis and Jaundice and Ostomy Bags and Pouchograms and IVs and Colonoscopies and PICC lines and everything else...
So, I invite you to navigate the site and make yourselves at home. I have designed it to be both informative for my friends and family as well as a resource of sorts for people who are dealing with the trials and tribulations of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease) and Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. So, read on: post a comment, drop me an email, send me a good quote or a decent joke, or pop in just to tell me how much you admire me and everything I stand for.
If you are new to the site and are not sure where to start, I have a few recommendations. At the top of the HOME page, you will notice several Page headings, including FAQs, Jack's Raging Bile Duct, and How Can I Help?. These are all static pages where information has been grouped by subject. The HOME screen, however, is designed as the platform where I will do most of my posting (aka most of my rambling). However, if you are new to the site and want to start at the beginning, I have helpfully listed the posts in order of the date they were published at the bottom of this page.
Also - anything throughout the site that is in orange is a hyperlink to a different area. For example, it might be a picture, a video or a link to a different website. I have included it because I think it might add something to the discussion, or carry it to an altogether different direction. Anyway, feel free to click on them throughout the site and entertain yourselves with my randomness.
